Located mounted on the side of the engine bay, near the coolant reservoir. It just looks like a little sheet metal box with some coils in it, then a wire connector leading out with the wires just merging with another loom. Haven’t done too much snooping on where that loom goes. Car is a 1984 Mercedes 300d.

it’s a resistor set for a variable speed fan, I forget if that car has an electric cooling fan with multiple speeds, if not, it’s for the HVAC fan.
